Why shouldn't I buy a product off the rack?
Most products on the market today contain substances that can be harmful to humans as well as your pets.
For example, many of them contain synthetic silicones that can cause development or reproduction problems. The substance C11-12 Isoparaffin that is common in many of them can cause skin diseases or allergies, and their preservatives can cause everything from asthma to cancer.
We cannot list all harmful substances here, as the list would be too long. However for anyone interested, you can go to the EWG website and see various examples of such products and learn their features.
They certainly don't affect us all to the same extent but why risk it when the alternative is easy, fast and you know where all your ingredients come from?
Benefits of a DIY wood furniture care oil:

It's healthy: As we mentioned above, many of the products on the market today include harmful substances for our body. The sooner you eliminate them from your daily life, the more you will gradually see your health improve!
It's natural: Without any trace of harmful substances, you can be sure of the quality of the products you use.
Let's go make it!
Tips and tricks for a DIY recipe:
If your furniture is dusty, it would be a good idea to dust it first before applying the oil
Test your oil first on a small area of your furniture that won't be immediately visible. So if any of the materials reacts with the color of the furniture, you will know to stop immediately
Use cotton cloths or you can get microfiber cloths. The easiest secret is to take an old sock or an old T-shirt and cut a piece of it!
Ingredients you will need:
Oil, preferably olive oil, but other oils can work just as well. Coconut oil, Almond oil or jojoba oil are some of your alternatives. Generally prefer an oil of low viscosity.
The oil will help protect the wood while giving it a shine and freshness at the same time.
Lemon or Vinegar: Two ingredients that every home has available. For light-coloured woods prefer white vinegar, while for dark-coloured woods you can put plain vinegar or apple cider vinegar. Their acid will help clean the accumulated dust that is not visible to the naked eye while at the same time disinfecting your furniture.
Lavender essential oil: You can add any essential oil of your choice, although we recommend lavender. Lavender essential oil helps your wood absorb the oil faster while adding a hint of fragrance to your space. And who doesn't want the room to smell nice? Especially with the relaxation and well-being properties it possesses, it is your ideal ally to bring wellness into your everyday life!
You can find our lavender essential oil here.
Tip: If you add a few lavender flowers to the mixture, the aroma and properties of your oil will become even stronger!!
How to make
Honestly, it's very easy. Mix 1 cup of oil with 1/2 cup of lemon or vinegar and add 10-15 drops of lavender essential oil. The more drops you mix in, the stronger the scent will be.
Of course if you want, you can make less. In this case make sure the oil-acid ratio is 1:1/2
Shake well and ready! You can use it on your furniture and see its surface shine before your eyes!
